“All things are poison and nothing is without poison, only the dosage makes a thing not poison.”
Paracelsus
What’s good world! I hope all is good with ya’ll since the last post. I remember I said in the last post I was going to try to do a video, but it turns out that I am not to good with working a camera yet. I need to do some more preparation before I can do a video post… hahahaha. I know when ya’ll hit that link on the topic “Poppin Pills” you weren’t expecting to see a old picture of some European cat…LOL. The words in this quote are very true when it comes to “medication”. In the United States we tend to go a little overboard when it comes to meds. Do not get it twisted I know for certain that some people need medications just to maintain existence, but there is also a lot of useless pill poppin!
NSAIDS (Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs)
As you can see in the name these drugs don’t have steroids. You need a prescription from a doctor to get steroids. Steroids can cause some serious problems if you take them to “Pump Up”. Things like erectile dysfunction or “Limp Dicky” as I refer to it, and impaired immune system function can happen from taking excess or unneeded steroids. Movin on…
These are the drugs you get from the store to help with pain. The famous brands are Tylenol, Advil, and Aleve. All of the drugs that I just mentioned all work to help ease that ache you feelin in yo back after a hard day of work. I get that and completely understand that they do help. The issue is that if you use them joints everyday, or even a few times a week, it can have a lasting effect on your gut and your liver. I am not one to tell people they need to just suck it up, but I am one to say “Hey go easy on the pills yo. Them things can hurt you over time.”
Opioids
Ya’ll know about these drugs! The famous Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, and Morphine. All these joints have the same sort of chemical make up as Heroin. Thats right ya’ll, these pain pills people are taking is just like Heroin just in a pill. I write this just to say that addiction is a disease and it effects all kinds of different people; from the richest cat with a house on the hill right across to the poor person. I also say this to remove some of the judgment that gets placed on people who use needles. Just because you are taking it in a pill doesn’t mean that you are not doing the same thing as a person who uses heroin. Movin On…
The Commercials
Ya’ll see all the commercials that are on T .V. nowadays. These drug companies are taking advantage of people, and people are educated on how these drugs are effecting their body. If you pay close attention to the commercial about the drugs, most of the time, one of the side effects is the very thing your are trying to get rid of. I am saying this because I want my people to be careful about the pills they are taking. Make sure you get all the information you can from your doctor about the meds you are being prescribed and if it is necessary to take them. Always ask your doctor if there is a natural option and if there is something you can add or take out of your daily life to help with your medical concerns. My 2 cents…
The Story
I go into my patients room to say hello and explain that I will be back to see them shortly. I explained that I have to go say hello to my other patients and get things prepared for the night; to get them their evening meds and to complete their assessment. The patient tells me that they have some questions for me when I return. I said “no problem I will be back shortly.” I returned to the patient’s room and the patient asked me about the result of a test that had taken earlier that day. We talked and then I was able to answer some questions for them. I then began to assess the patient and discuss the medications they are taking. During our discussion the patient discovered they were taking medications they had never known why they were taking it, and they had been on it for sometime. After spending some time explaining the medications the patient decided against taking them. Knowledge is power ya’ll. Don’t just take it because they say so, know why you should take it, and if it is necessary.
Hope this helps Ya’ll
Peace,
