Wuz Good Ya’ll?!
Yo, this joint made a brotha hit repeat Madd times! O.C. is an O.G. in this Hip-Hop thang. O.C., a member of Diggin In The Crates (DITC), has been one of my inspirations for a number of years. The veteran’s verbal artistry still captivates the ears of his audience with concrete rhymes and flavorful production. O.C. calls to attention the current events taking place in the U.S. today and provides some creative and poignant commentary. This jawn “Sound Off” is a classic example of the skill O.C. brings to the table! Dope rhymes and beats…what more could a Hip-Hop head ask for! I have his album “Same Moon, Same Sun” in HEAVY rotation right now. Give this jawn a listen and go peep the album. O.C. did the dang thang on this one! Enjoy.
Ahight, I had to put this joint up! Terrace Martin is a wizard with the saxophone! This cat has worked with a gang of people, from Snoop and Dj Quik to Robert Glasper and Lalah Hathaway. Terrace Martin is a fantastic musician with a major amount of talent. This song “Valdez off Crenshaw” is masterful and really smooth. Terrace is definitely one of the greats of our time. Take a listen to this a joint and I know you will feel the same way I do. This is HOT! Go get the album, “Velvet Portraits”, you will not be disappointed! Enjoy!
Check it ya’ll, Imma put ya’ll up on the Las Vegas based rapper, “Dizzy Wright”. Dizzy is a talented artist who rose to fame after being “Co-Signed” by Hopsin. Hopsin, along with friend “Swizzz”, created a record label called “Funk Volume” Dizzy Wright was one of just a few artists that were asked to join the label . Funk Volume toured world-wide and gained tons of new fans and followers for the label. Around the beginning of 2016, Hopsin, Swizzz and Swizzz’s brother got into some heated disagreements and Hopsin decided to leave the label. The break-up of the label was particularly disturbing for the artists that signed to the label and began to represent it regularly. Dizzy was one of those artists who took the break-up hard because it was out of his control and he had just gotten a tattoo to show his loyalty to the label. Dizzy is known for his positive messages; he speaks about improving the black community and raising respectful young women and men.
Since the bitter break-up of “Funk Volume”, Dizzy has created his own label entitled “Still Movin’” and has been releasing music regularly. One of Dizzy’s new songs, entitled “Wanna Remind You” brings light to the fact that Dizzy has had some demons and other challenges in recent days, but also recognizes that other people are going thru trials and tribulations as well. This is an uplifting song with a “heavy rotation” style beat (Produced by Roc N Mayne).
Big shouts out to Dizzy Wright for his great music and representing Las Vegas, Nevada (which was way overdue for a good Hip-Hop representative).
Looking forward to a fruitful career and years of listening pleasure.

Yo, this joint is crazy dope! As a California native, this song has been my anthem for the past few months and continues to stay in heavy rotation! Ya boy has been livin in the NW for quite a few years now, but I always miss home. This song reminds me of hangin wit the homies in the AV (Antelope Valley) makin it do what it do. Dj Battle Cat, or just simply Battlecat, has been putting out quality music for decades. Battlecat has a signature West Coast sound that Hip Hop heads can’t wait put in they ride and bang. Battlecat has made music with legends like Snoop, Michael Jackson, Madonna, Nate Dogg (RIP), The Eastsidaz, Kurupt, and many more. Battlecat continues to make bangers and deserves the highest recognition for his music! This joint callled, “I’m From California”, has spin on TOTO’s “Africa” with a dope Hood feel. Mykestro, Battlecat’s brother, along with AV artist 2 Dice and Janice Freeman put it down on this song. Ya’ll give this joint a listen and you will understand why this joint stays in HEAVY ROTATION in my whip! Holla
If you keep your ear to the street (like the Hood Nurse Team does), then you’d know that some of the artists from the golden era are not only alive and well, but active. A perfect example of this is Compton, California’s own “MC Eiht”. Eiht is a West Coast pioneer and has appeared in some of the 90’s most pivotal major motion pictures about life on the West Coast. Often under-rated, Eiht has made a name for himself by staying consistent and his famous tag-line “Geah!” MC Eiht has a ton of accomplishments to his credit (go do your homework), but mostly recently, he has dropped his highly anticipated album “Which Way Iz West”. This is his 2nd effort with production powerhouse “Brenk Sinatra”. MC Eiht brings those grimy 90’s style West Coast lyrics to a modernized and polished production style. To make things even sweeter for MC Eiht, he has teamed up with DJ Premier’s “Year-Round Records” for this release. DJ Premier’s stamp always comes highly regarded; and he also appears on several tracks in both voice and scratch cuts. MC Eiht will never be talked about like Jayoncé or Kimye West, but he is the artist that those artist are secretly listening to. (Because the styles start in the hood and trickle down to the commercial levels as a natural way of order).
MC Eiht has successfully survived the hood for 47 years and continues to thrive as a gym enthusiast who also stays active on social media (IG: eiht0eiht).
I’ll admit, you have to be somewhat of a 90’s West Coast fan to fully enjoy MC Eiht’s music, but if you are a fan, then you’ll love the way Eiht has meshed his style with Brenk Sinatra’s powerful beats. I haven’t seen a “Clean” version yet, so you might want to listen to this one without the kids around, at least until they’re ready for a concentrated dose of the hood; and speaking of hood, MC Eiht’s album “Which Way Iz West” is highly recommended by the Hood Nurse Team. Throw your dubs up and go cop MC Eiht’s new album. Big shouts out to MC Eiht and the entire West Coast. Here is a sample of the pure dopeness!

Hood to Haven and Back Again
Yo, I have been working on a few projects recently and I just wanted to share a song that I think will best represent who I am as an artist! The joint is called “Do Yo Thang”. I wrote this song to remind myself not to worry about what is going on around me, but to focus on what I am doing. There is a gang of people in this world who live being afraid of what others may think about them. The deal is, if you are being authentically you, then it does not matter what others think! It is needed to be true to yourself and live the life you want to live, cause you only get one chance to make this life dope. I figure I will do my best to make mine great! I want to be a history maker and not a spectator! I hope that this joint will encourage ya’ll to do the same. Enjoy!
So, my showty and I went to a concert recently. It was a date night, and I was just lookin forward to spending some time with my baby. I was not familiar with the artist we went to go see. But, when she hit the stage ya boy became a fan! Jamila Woods is an incredibly talented beautiful black woman, that puts on a real dope show. She has a aura about her that screams confidence and power, with a super soulful voice that is captivating. The band was on point adding major flavor to the Jamila Woods experience. I had a great time with my baby that night and became a fan of a truly dope artist! This joint, “LSD” is the song that she did that made me a true believer. This song is dope on the album, but live is a whole other level. I love the vibe of this joint, it makes me feel good. Jamila’s album entitled “Heavn”, is definitely a must have for the collection. This project is full of love and positive affirmation. I really dig music that can deliver that type of message and feeling. I know ya’ll are gonna dig this! After you peep this out, go check for her, you will not be disappointed. Enjoy
Ahight, I been vibin on this joint hard lately. I don’t normally dig joints like this, I guess its cause I like the more grimmy style of Hip Hop, but this is a banger. I have been a fan of Big KRIT fro a while now and he always comes thru with some dope music. His latest project “4eva Is A Mighty Long Time” is a real work of art. KRIT is major talented. His production, which is off the wall, and his ability as a wordsmith makes him an artist for the record books ya’ll. KRIT does it all and he does real well. This song “1999” is a dope new version, if you can even call it that, of Juvenille’s joint “Back Dat Ass Up” that had the club poppin back in the day. The diverse complexity of this album is intriguing. I am always amazed at who KRIT decides to work with, but after listening to the music I always understand in the end! His music is always thought provoking and entertaining at the same time, KRIT seems to have that on lock. I hope he gets all the props he deserves! I hope ya’ll dis it as much as I do. Enjoy!
Yo, here is song that touched my soul the first time I heard it. I haven done a review of Oddisee in the past and here is another example of why. This cat has major soul and a dope message. I love it when you can hear the progression of life in an artist’s music. With each project you can hear how life has effected his point of view and perspective, and ultimately his music. This joint called, “Want To Be” is real dope. When I heard this song it inspired me to want to create music, and that is rare these days. Oddisee is always hookin up something dope for his fans to listen to. From instrumental albums to solo projects he’s got it covered. His latest album “Iceberg” is a classic. It take a while to soak in due to the fact that there is so much to take in, but after you really listen to the album you’ll love it. Check this joint ya’ll then peep the album, you gone dig it! Enjoy.
YOOOO, I found this joint on a music app and flipped out! I been up on SiR for a few years, so I decided to do a search for some more of his music, and found out that he put out a new album called, “November”. I peeped the whole album and this is the joint that stood out the most, in my opinion. This song is called, “D’Evils”. I love this song! It has been quite a long time since I heard music that has inspired me to want to make music, and this song struck that nerve. The production on this joint is lovely and SiR rides that beat like a Pro! The vibe of this song is soul moving and the message is so real. I try to take advantage of erry moment and stay focused on doin better every day. This song to me is a reminder to soak up every moment and be the best person I can possibly be! “If we not headed to the top, where we going?” Yo, this is the question I ask my self with everything I put my hands on. There aint no point in doing something if you are gonna do it half ass! And the Tupac reference “2 miles an hour can you picture me rollin?” always makes me think, “watch me handle my biz, cuz I’m bout to get it in!” Sinnce I am gettin a little bit older, I understand tryin to slow life down and enjoy every second. I am fellin this joint in a major way, I know ya’ll gonna feel it too! Enjoy!
Ahight ya’ll, I was scrolling through my music app looking for new joints (something I am doing almost everyday). I found this joint and was major surprised! I have been so-so on T-Pain, only because of the over saturation of the auto-tune. As I sit here and write this, I do like a number of his joints so I would say I am a fan of his music. After I heard this joint tho, I was like ” this brotha is ILL”. The way that T Pain and Mr. Talkbox did this song is classic and certainly classy. This song is jazzy funky and smooth all at the same time, I love this joint! When I listen to this joint I wanna take my Showty by the hand and two step the night away! I love that womxn! If you got a special person in yo life make sure they know that you love em and they are precious to you (no matter what) ! This here is a far doper contrast to what is on the radio. I know yall gonna feel this joint as much as I do! Enjoy
Okay, now when I heard these cats I was blown away! These young brothaz remind me of myself in a major way! As ya’ll know ya boy came up in the LA area so I was feeling these cats in a major way. Villain Park is an amazing group of young cats with major flows, dope beats, and that good old fashioned HIP HOP sound! I am so happy that there is a sector in this younger generation of Hip Hop heads that still value Dope lyrics and Grimey beats! I have listened to a gang of their music (kinda been on a binge since I found them last week), and these cats is certified dope! This song called “We Out Here” is a dope example of what good underground West Coast Hip Hop sounds like! Take a listen and you gonna be able to tell that certainly hood wit it! Go look for their music and I promise you wont be disappointed with what you hear. Big Ups to Villain Park for carrying the torch and reppin lovely!
Yo, so I been a fan of this cat for more than 15 years! If you are not familiar with this cat, then you need to do the research and the knowledge. Phonte has maddddd skills. From his work with Little Brother, Foreign Exchange, and ZO! to his solo stuff this brotha is one of my favorite artists hands down! Phonte got major flows and and can carry a tune fa sho. I have mad respect for this cat and he never seems to disappoint, he always comes with it! This song entitled, “Sweet You” is another example of how dope and versatile Phonte is, he rockin the chorus and the rhymes wit ease! This joint is soulful and full of feelin and has been on my heavy rotation playlist. Once again, this joint reminds me of my Golden Girl. I know ya’ll gonna feel this joint too! Enjoy
My peepo, I was scrolling thru my music app searchin for that new hotness. I skipped past madd joints but then this joint started playin. I was immediately caught by the beat; it reminded me of some old skool Outkast, so i was in from the jump. I am one who is very picky about the voice of the emcee, to the point that I won’t listen to an artist if I don’t like their voice. These cats voices go perfect with this beat and the style they spittin with is lovely. The message of the song is very dope too. I just doin my thang, I ain’t sweatin nothing anybody else is doin. Ya boy is just “kickin back feelin good on a friday, ain’t lettin all the bullshit get in my way.” “I’m in a good mood don’t mess wit my high, thangs are lookin up you can see in my eyes.” I am hella feelin this joint! Go a head and press play and catch vibe, ya’ll gonna wanna press repeat fa sho. David Dallas feat. Freddie Gibbs – Caught In A Daze is a pure banger! Enjoy.
Ahight, this brotha got madd flave. I went to a concert to see Anderson Paak a while back, and this brotha opened for him. Not many peepo was payin attention to him, and I dont know why, cause I could tell he was different. He came thru with this style that I aint heard before, so I was diggin what he was doin. A while later I was scrolling thru my app, and I found this joint here. As soon as bruh started riding the beat I was in. He started kickin that sing spittin shit, and I was ridin wit him like “a ya ya ya ya yow”. I love love how this cat rides the beat and his style is major dope. This song called “David” by Dave B is pure flames ya’ll. give it a listen and you wont be disappointed. Enjoy.
I know its been a cool minute since I posted what I been rockin to so I figured I would lace ya’ll with a few thangs since I been on the low. I always look to my O.G.s for dope Hip Hop and this brotha is forever on point. I love Redman cause he is consistently raw with it. I always rock wit Red and have been since like 93. When I heard WHUT? The Album, I was stuck and have been bangin Redman’s music ever since. This joint “Tear It Up” is no exception to the catalog. The cat that produced this joint, Theory Hazit, rocks in my city, so I dig this joint that much more. Go ahead and press play, then go ahead and add it to yo playlist…LMAO! Enjoy ya’ll.
Thissss joint tho! This joint right here, this joint right HERE! This mufuggin joint is FIRE. I had never heard of Dave East till I heard this joint. Now my man has a new fan. Of cource ya’ll know Uncle Snoop always come wit it. I spent a gang of my teenage years knockin Snoop in the Hood fa sho. The beat on this joint is cold and the back and forth they doin on this song is perfect! I really dig how the east coast and west coast vibes mesh on this joint! I put this song on repeat for a few days! I have another connection with this song that has to do with a patient that I was caring for. He was a special young brotha around my age who passed away too early, but before he passed, we knocked this song and walked around the hospital grounds choppin it! Its a day and a brotha I will never forget. I know ya’ll gonna enjoy this! I still knock this joint on the reg. Enjoy.
Now, once again I was diggin thru my app, and was actually lookin for one of my O.G.s and found this. I been knockin Masta Ace since the 90’s and have been a fan of Marco Polo for years. When I found this joint I was major happy cuz this project is a damm Masta Piece! These dudes came with it on this album (that’s why they O.G.s). This song entitled, “Kings” is a perfect preview of the album. I am feelin every joint on there, and if you listen to it you will too. If you are a Hip Hop head like me, of course. The album is called A Breukelen Story. Go peep that joint out I know you finna love it. Enjoy
Been a minute since I posted a what ya boy been vibin to lately, but I have been on the hunt for new music and trust I found me some gems. This joint by Bun B called “Time Flies” is a real banger. I feel this joint cause I been noticing that I have been growing older but I aint changed a whole lot. I still the same old Hadda, I’m just a little bit wiser now and I try not to make the same dumb mistakes I made as a youngin. The production from Statik Selektah is on point for this joint. I heard this joint and put it into heavy rotation immediately. I know yall gonna feel it! Enjoy my peepo.
Okay, I have been following Little Brother Since 2004, and these brothaz come with it on every project they put out. This latest album ‘May The Lord Watch” is no exception. In fact I really think it is one of their best albums which is hard to pick out cuz they all dope. These brothaz never fail to put some thing for every one on their album but this whole record was for me. Lmao. No joke I have been playin this on heavy rotation since the day it dropped. This song called “Black Magic” is a masterpiece. Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh deliver some hard flows over a bangin as beat. The message of black people creating magic is awesome and very true. Black peepo are usually the creators of popular culture, let alone all of the marvelous inventions, science discoveries, and mathematical genius. I really appreciate this joint. I hope yall enjoy cuz I know I still am.
I am always on the hunt for good music ya’ll. If you have any suggestions please hit me up. I will give it a solid listen and put up a review. Thanks for your time ya’ll. I hope you enjoy the music.
Peace,
MaddHadda aka The Hood Nurse
